World Summit

We commend your effort in promoting media for children and your contribution in using Willows Magazine as a tool to nurture young people to excel.

The World Summit on Media for Children is held every three years and provides a forum for young people, producers, broadcasters and regulators of media for children, professionals and community leaders committed to the improvement of quality media for children.

To date, Cares Global Network has been represented at  four editions of the summit and had the privilege of presenting a paper at the 2007 summit which took place in Johannesburg, South Africa and went to Sweden with a media partner – Vanguard Newspaper, in 2010. For the next one, scheduled for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, we desire to attend with a team. The team which is made up of 6 children and 6 adults will help to drive the campaign towards making all arms of media more child-friendly.

Participants should be between the ages of 14 and 17  (children) and 25 and 50 (adults). You should be involved with media and development within your school, community or organisation. CGN will be responsible for seeking sponsorship and support (airfare and lodging) for those who are qualified but not able to sponsor self to the summit.

On return from the trip, we will strengthen the team and gradually carve a niche as a force to reckon with in decision making that affects the development of media for children and young people locally and globally.

I look forward to having you in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2014.

Regards,

Project Director, CGN
