Coming Up…

Cares Global Network has been working with young people since 1997. Upon registering the organisation in 2001, we expanded our scope to include 12 projects carried out annually. For better efficiency we recently narrowed down to 4 major areas under which we have continued to share cares  and inspire excellence.

It’s 2014 and we have an amazing plan for our stakeholders:

To carry on as a non-profit organisation, we intend to register in the United States. This will go a long way especially in the
area of carrying out our programmes beyond the shores of Nigeria.

As part of  Cares Leadership Academy for Youth (CLAY) we will continue to mentor and develop the personality of the young people who work with us or who are referred to us on a one on one basis. Wondering how our mentors turn out check out the following names and return to give feedback – Monininuola Sonde, Dayo Israel, Leke Aladekoba, Isabella Ibiam, Olamide Olabisi, Gboyega Ahove, Olaitan Boboye, Treasure Obasi to mention a few. We are proud of what we do but that’s just because it’s God leading us to inspire them to excel. Our Children Career Conference “Inspire to Excel” will be coming up in Abuja on the 23rd of May 2014. Follow us here or on Facebook to know where. Speakers will include Chief (Mrs.) Funmi Awomolo, SAN and Pastor (Mrs.) Funmi Adesegun Deputy Governor, Ogun State. Interested schools, students and sponsors should contact willows magazine@gmail.com. Upon registration in the USA, the conference would be organised in high schools beginning with schools in New Jersey.

Are you young? Are you interested in social development? Would you like to partner with us? If your answer is yes to the 3 questions, come on board to dive the Cares Club initiative. You will coordinate students to participate in TTRIPPS (training in television, radio, internet, print, photography and speaking. You will join the students on their fun trips to relevant media stations as part of the training). If you are not interested in trips, you can coordinate our Vacation Bible School (organised in collaboration with schools and churches) or WRITE Contest. Best volunteers will receive awards.

Just as we did last year we would have the Student Education Tour. We are heading to the USA in August with adults and students  who have demonstrated leadership qualities. They would have the privilege of sharing and learning outside Nigeria. Once we gain the trust of schools in the USA, we would also be able to bring students in the USA to Nigeria for the same educational exchange purpose.

As a way of giving back, CGN has a number of initiatives up our sleeves under Ibiyemi Fund for Empowerment formerly ACE 4.0 Project. What better way to show love than to raise and give gifts to those who need them most. IFE Cash Award of N25, 000 each will go to 4 indigent students as a love gift. This gift can be used  towards exam fees, tuition, books or other educational needs. ACET (ACE Training) valued at N25, 000 would be offered to 4 selected groups. Feel free to send in your nomination. Out there are many who have the Heart of Gold through the philanthropic and life changing endeavours they carry out. We would recognise 4 of such “secret divine helpers” and celebrate them in the most unusual way. 4 homes would be given ACES (ACE Support) N25, 000. It’s time to nominate HOMES yo believe need this love offering.

As a way to bless the Christian Community, Divine Connection will work with 7 churches to host  Harvest Of Marriages Empowerment Summit (HOMES) and Graceful Women Conference in Nigeria and the USA respectively.

To support what we do, consider sending your donation or ordering copies of our books and magazines.

We need you to share cares and inspire excellence as we continue to touch those in our area of influence.

World Summit

We commend your effort in promoting media for children and your contribution in using Willows Magazine as a tool to nurture young people to excel.

The World Summit on Media for Children is held every three years and provides a forum for young people, producers, broadcasters and regulators of media for children, professionals and community leaders committed to the improvement of quality media for children.

To date, Cares Global Network has been represented at  four editions of the summit and had the privilege of presenting a paper at the 2007 summit which took place in Johannesburg, South Africa and went to Sweden with a media partner – Vanguard Newspaper, in 2010. For the next one, scheduled for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, we desire to attend with a team. The team which is made up of 6 children and 6 adults will help to drive the campaign towards making all arms of media more child-friendly.

Participants should be between the ages of 14 and 17  (children) and 25 and 50 (adults). You should be involved with media and development within your school, community or organisation. CGN will be responsible for seeking sponsorship and support (airfare and lodging) for those who are qualified but not able to sponsor self to the summit.

On return from the trip, we will strengthen the team and gradually carve a niche as a force to reckon with in decision making that affects the development of media for children and young people locally and globally.

I look forward to having you in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2014.

Project Director, CGN
